Michael Cole

Michael has spent much of his career alongside successful families, helping them think beyond the management of wealth to the people, relationships, and decisions that determine what happens across generations.

Along the way, he has led and built some of the wealth management industry’s most respected platforms, including Merrill Lynch Trust, Abbot Downing at Wells Fargo, Ascent Private Capital Management at U.S. Bank, and Cresset. He is also the author of More Than Money, which grew out of his belief that lasting family success requires far more than a well-designed financial plan.

That same conviction is a big part of why Michael helped create Generations. He believes families should bring the same intentionality to developing the rising generation that they bring to preparing the business, estate, and assets they may one day carry.

At Generations, Michael helps rising-generation members think more clearly about who they are becoming, the responsibility ahead of them, and how to prepare for it well.
